OUTSTANDING SPOTTING SCOPE

I have the military version of this scope, which only differs due to the “Elite” logos being removed from the sides. I use this scope in Afghanistan, it has been treated roughly and continues to focus and zoom smoothly. Very good light gathering for a small scope. Rubberized, with soft lens-cap up front, hard plastic lens-cap for the eyepiece. The only thing I can say negative about the scope is that the eye relief is very short, at least shorter than other scopes I have used in the past. This negative is perhaps a little nit-picky as the scope is also much smaller and lighter than other scopes that I have used.

Excellent scope for the price

Optically this spotting scope is really very good. I've mainly used the fixed 30x wide angle lens and the image is very bright and sharp and the field of view is decent. It's very hard to find any fault with it, especially considering the price.

I replaced one of the early Kowa 77mm scopes with this Elite and the Elite was stunningly superior in brightness and clarity. Of course Kowa has gone on to make some of the best spotting scopes in the world since then, but this 80mm Elite can still hold its own.

The zoom lens is adequate (and eye relief and 20x and 60x is good, but less so at other magnifications). As you get closer to 60x you are pushing the envelope with a scope in this price range. At high magnification, you are will not get the same quality of image as you would with a high end scope.

Overall this scope pretty is well made and quite light for its size. The focusing wheel is smooth and easy to use. I recommend it to anyone wanting a very good quality scope at a price that doesn't hurt too much. Sadly it appears the 30x eyepiece is no longer being made by Bushnell.

despite claims, I’ve had trouble getting this to range anything over 200 yards, even on very bright and distinct targets. Overall, extremely disappointed.

Great scope for those long shots,or those not so long shots. The 50mm gives you all the extra light you need at dawn and dusk. It works great.

I also own Swarovski and Leica binoculars and have used them extensively on my ranch in Montana in all conditions. I have been extremely happy with those products. I have preferred the Swarovski over the Lecias as they tend to be lighter and just feel better to me.

It was time to add another pair to my collection so I figured I would give the top end Bushnells a try. I was extremely surprised with the performance of these binoculars. They are very light in weight (lighter than the other brands) and do perform as well, if not better, than the other optics I have. In general they compete very well with the Swarovski and Leica optics and given they are so light in weight - they now have become my primary pair and visitors to the ranch get to use the others.

They perform excellent in low light and I have yet to have a fogging problem with them.

Maybe it's just me, but I did not notice much difference between the 12.5x compared to the 10x Swarovskis - so you decide. I did a side by side test and the extra 2.5x does not make that big of a difference. But hey, bigger has to be better right? You should make the call on the trade off of more magnification vs wider field of view. I don't have a problem finding what I am looking for as my binoculars live with me on the ranch, but if you struggle with putting the binoculars up and then finding what you are looking for, the 10x might be a better choice for you. I trust the 10x Bushnells will be the same quality as the 12.5x ones I purchased.

I have been using 10x42 binoculars so I was worried going with x50 as they might make the overall size of the binocular a bit bulky, but this is not the case with these.

I try not to abuse optics in this price range, so I did not drop test them or let them ride in the back of the pickup for a rattle test. But in looking them over, they appear to be very well built and can stand up to abuse as well as the other brands.

The focus control, etc is quick and easy.

Overall I am very pleased with the product.

Scope has very good optics,clearity and focus. Amason is THE best place to buy anything.Perfect deal compared to anyplace else on the net. The only thing I can say negative is I wish it had a little more eye relief but the 30MM tube allows both eyes open to pick up on your target. I have more than one Bushnell Elite scope and hope this one gives as good service as my other has. Very satisfied !!!

These Bushnell elite 4200 scopes are excellent for the $$$. Sure they are a little bigger and heavier than similar powered scopes from other manufacturers, but the glass is superb. Extremely bright and clear, what more could you ask for at this price point? They are also quite durrible, 10,000 rounds of .375 H&H is no laughing matter… In my opinion, these are clearer and brighter than the Leupolds in the same price range.

New Bushnell 4200 would not respond to azimuth adjustments.

Scope has been returned to Bushnell.The clarity and brightness

of this product are excellant,however,I would expect a scope

in this price range to be flawless.

For a number of years I have been using a Tasco EXP 10×42 binocular which I think cost around one hundred dollars. Recently I decided to make the plunge into the realm of high class glass and purchased the Bushnell Elite 10×43 binocular. After spending many hours comparing the image quality of the two binoculars I am sad to say I can tell little if any difference in optical quality. While the Bushnell Elite is certainly a very fine binocular, after comparing them to my old Tasco’s, it is my opinion that they are over priced.
